To be successful in Evangelism, one needs adequate preparation before going out to witness. Some pointers to consider in getting ready for effective Evangelism include the following:  

1. Prepare yourself through prayer.  ( Eph 6:12-20)

 - pray before going out, pray during the evangelism and pray after the evangelism.

2. Pick the appropriate Place and Time

- Places like business areas, busy streets, college campuses and market areas.

- avoid evangelizing around churches of other faith or places that might be continuous or difficult

- make sure you follow any rules and regulations that abide in that area.

- if the owner of the property ask you to leave, just leave. it doesn't mean you have failed you did your part.

- choose appropriate time to talk to people, don't make the habit of disturbing people when they are clearly busy.

3.  Prepare your Message

- focus on Christ not yourself

- focus on Salvation

- Read the bible, use your well know bible stories that you know very well.

- make a friend and always invite them to church

4.  Prepare the type of questions to ask.

- start with simple questions, simple conversations, then gradually more towards probing question. 

- engage in meaningful conversation with them and learn to listen to them.

5.  Listen and Pay Attention.

- evangelism should be about exchange of ideas

- it should be that, you are always looking for the opportunity to speak

- if you ask a question, listen to the answer the person gives before speaking again.

6. Dress well, smell good, never go out chewing gum or eating on evangelism.

7. Leave the results to God

- always follow up evangelism with discipleship

- follow up is very important

 invite the people to church.
